Prepaid packs
A pack is prepaid volume at your plan's own rate — so the same pack costs less on a higher tier, and larger packs discount further. Every pack is valid for 365 days.
Packs do two different jobs. On Basic they are the top-up: Basic stops when its 100,000 included Checks are gone, and a pack is how you keep going. On Starter, Growth and Scale they are purely a discount — those plans never stop, so prepaying is optional and only buys you a lower per-unit rate.

Verification packs are not sold on Basic, and that is not a restriction we could lift by changing a setting. Basic is a browser age check with no document path at all, so prepaid Verifications would be credit you could never spend. If you need to scan an ID, the plan you want is Starter or above. Free has no packs either — there is no card on file.

Both figures include the €199 base fee. The 9,000 Checks sit inside Growth's 30,000 included allowance, so they add nothing. Forcing a document requires Starter or above — Basic is the browser-check plan and has no document path.

What is the difference between a Verification and a Check?
A Verification is the expensive operation — document/ID verification with OCR and face match, plus blacklist checks. A Check is the cheap operation — a browser-based age check, a returning-user Xident ID lookup, or an OAuth login. Verifications cost €0.10–0.30; Checks cost €0.01–0.03, roughly 10× cheaper.
How does the returning-user discount work?
When a user verifies once and creates an Xident ID, every later verification on any site using Xident is just a Check (a lookup) — about 10× cheaper than a full Verification. This "Verify Once" model lowers your cost as the network grows.
What is the Basic plan?
Basic is €99/month for browser-based age checks only (no ID/document fallback): 100,000 Checks included per month. Beyond that it stops until you buy a prepaid Check pack, priced at €0.0005 per Check — the same rate the volume has always cost. It is built for high-volume consumer age-gate sites such as adult content, dating, and alcohol e-commerce.
Is there a free tier?
Yes — a free developer sandbox with 1,000 Checks and 100 document Verifications. Both are one-time grants, not monthly: enough to build and test an integration end to end, including the document path. There is no card required, and nothing renews.
How many Checks are included in my plan?
Paid plans include a monthly Check allowance: Basic 100,000, Starter 2,500, Growth 30,000 and Scale 150,000. Free is different — its 1,000 Checks and 100 Verifications are one-time, not monthly. Checks are the cheap operations — the browser age check, liveness, a returning-user Xident ID lookup, and OAuth login. Beyond the allowance, Starter, Growth and Scale never stop: extra Checks meter at your plan's own rate and settle on your monthly invoice. Basic stops at 100,000 and you top up with a prepaid Check pack.
Are any Verifications included?
On a paid plan, no — and that is deliberate. A Verification means a real document scan: OCR, fake-document detection and a face match, which costs us money every single time. So Verifications bill from the first one, at €0.30, €0.20 or €0.10 depending on your tier, and the included monthly volume covers Checks only. The free sandbox is the one exception: it includes 100 document Verifications so you can test the document path before paying. Like its 1,000 Checks, they are a one-time grant and do not renew.

Why can Basic not buy Verification packs?
Because Basic has no document path at all. It runs only the browser-based age check — there is no ID upload, no OCR and no face match on that plan, so prepaid Verifications would be credit you could never spend. Selling them would be taking money for units that expire unused. If you need to scan an ID, the plan you want is Starter or above, and moving up is a plan change rather than an add-on.
What happens when I run out of my included Checks?
It depends on your plan, and the difference is deliberate. On Starter, Growth and Scale nothing stops: extra Checks are simply metered at your plan's own rate (€0.03, €0.02 or €0.01) and settle on your monthly invoice. Prepaying a pack is optional there — it only buys you a lower rate. On Basic, verification stops until you buy a Check pack, because the €99 covers a fixed 100,000 Checks. On the free sandbox it stops too, and that is the signal to upgrade. If you want a spending ceiling on a paid plan, set a monthly budget in billing settings and switch on "stop verifications at the budget" — sessions already in flight always finish.
Do you remove Xident branding?
The verification UI always shows a "Powered by Xident" footer (no white-label). You can optionally add your own logo for co-branding.
Can I change plans anytime?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect on your next billing cycle.
